DraftKings Announces the Launch of iGaming in Ontario

DraftKings has announced the launch of products in two categories, namely iGaming and Sports Betting for the Canadian state of Ontario. The launch of its products will grant players of the region access to sportsbooks like Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, and Major League Soccer.

A total of 130 online casino games will become available to the players. DraftKings has become the 37th operator to receive approval in Ontario and the 12th operator to have a 2-year license for all the services except for the provincial lottery, which was approved only for one year.

Operators like SkillOnNet and Entain are also a part of the group of operators to have received the license. Both the operators plan to offer their services through more than one website.

Jason Robins, Co-Founder & Chief Executive of DraftKings, called the approval of the license a significant milestone in their expansion plans. Jason Robins added that the casino looks forward to providing the most entertaining and responsible gaming experience to its fanbase in Ontario.

DraftKings would now reach approximately 40% of Canada’s total population. DraftKings was founded in 2012 by Jason Robins, Paul Liberman, and Matt Kalish. It has its headquarters in Boston with an overall presence in 17 regions. DraftKings identifies itself as a digital sports entertainment and gaming company. It is listed on NASDAQ as DKNG with a trading price of $14.15, up by 2.092% when drafting this article.

Players can access the platform through their mobile devices or at a retailer’s spot across the United States of America, subject to regulations. DraftKings has earned a spot as the official daily fantasy partner of MLB, NFL, NASCAR, UFC, and PGA TOUR while also being an authorized game operator of MLB and NBA.

Recent development includes the launch of DraftKings’ marketplace in 2021. It is an ecosystem of digital collectibles that have been designed for mainstream accessibility and offers curated NFT drops with support to secondary-market transactions.

April 04, 2022, marked an important transformation into the exciting times. Ontario opened its doors to the sports and iGaming betting industry by approving 13 sportsbooks, namely BetMGM, theScore Bet, Caesars, PointsBet, and FanDuel.
