OLG issues RFP for prospective Windsor casino operator

The Ontario and Lottery Gaming Corporation (OLG) has initiated distributing Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to reputable clients. This pertains to the need to designate an appropriate operator for its Windsor casino.

According to the President and CEO of OLG, Duncan Hannay, a similar exercise was carried out in April 2023. It was the initial stage for honing in on an appropriate service provider capable of furthering the site and keeping ahead of the severe competition. Another necessity is the potential to generate increased revenue, benefiting the community as well as Ontario as a whole.

As per the online casino news, the concerned patrons were selected via OLG’s RPFQ process, which ended on May 25, 2023. This occurred after they obtained the RPF documents, and it is now up to the Crown Corporation to determine the next step.

Recently released information by OLG mentions the fact that the corporation’s top priority is to ensure proper ethical practices are adopted for the procurement process. The commercial aspect of public procurement needs to be dealt with with kid gloves. Therefore, OLG will not be divulging any details regarding the RFP papers, not even the names of the patrons involved, during the entire procedure.

OLG has made it abundantly clear that they will release no information until the chosen service provider is finalized. In this matter, OLG has sought the help of a Fairness Monitor to receive suggestions while the procurement procedure continues.

Presently, the Windsor casino goes by the moniker Caesars Windsor, for which the operator was required to ink a twelve-month extension deal that will see the association last until August 2025. OLG has provided the chance to further the deal for a period of six months and going up to twelve months, which should terminate by August 2026. Incidentally, Caesars will be a part of the RPFQ procedure.
